Homemade BBQ Sauce
A smoky-sweet homemade barbecue sauce with chipotle peppers in adobo, molasses and brown sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 240ml ketchup
- 80ml molasses
- 65g soft brown sugar
- 4 tbsp minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
- 4 tbsp distilled vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of salt
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and onion and cook for 5 minutes, stirring, taking care not to burn them.
- Reduce the heat to low. Add the ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, chipotle peppers, vinegar (or less to taste), Worcestershire sauce and salt, and stir together.
- Simmer for 20 minutes. Taste and adjust with more spice or sugar as needed.
